Als Backend Developer (m/w/d) entwickelst du die technische Grundlage unserer digitalen Learning Experiences, mit denen Nutzer komplexe Inhalte zuverlässig, sicher und skalierbar erleben. Du sorgst dafür, dass unsere Plattformen, Apps und Trainingslösungen stabil, skalierbar und performant laufen – auch dann, wenn Anforderungen komplex werden und Systeme wachsen.
Du baust und betreibst saubere Backend-Architekturen, entwickelst APIs und Services und stellst sicher, dass Datenflüsse, Integrationen und Schnittstellen zuverlässig funktionieren. Dabei denkst du in Systemen, nicht nur in Endpunkten – und behältst Skalierbarkeit, Sicherheit und Wartbarkeit jederzeit im Blick. Du prägst aktiv Architektur und technische Leitplanken.
In enger Zusammenarbeit mit Frontend, Product Management, UI/UX und Projekt Management bringst du deine technische Erfahrung in Architekturentscheidungen, technologische Weiterentwicklungen und Best Practices ein. Du gestaltest unsere Backend-Landschaft aktiv mit und sorgst dafür, dass sie auch langfristig tragfähig bleibt.
* Unser Vertrag ist zunächst auf 1 Jahr befristet. Diese Zeit nutzen wir, um uns gegenseitig kennenzulernen und sicherzustellen, dass die Zusammenarbeit für beide Seiten gut passt. Wenn wir merken, dass es für alle stimmig ist – und davon gehen wir aus – steht einer unbefristeten Anstellung nichts im Wege.

Was dich erwartet - deine Aufgaben
- Du konzipierst, entwickelst und betreibst Backend-Services für unsere digitalen Lernplattformen und Apps.
- Du entwickelst und pflegst APIs und Schnittstellen für Frontend, externe Systeme und Partner.
- Du sorgst für stabile Datenflüsse, saubere Integrationen und konsistente Datenmodelle.
- Du bringst dich aktiv in Architekturentscheidungen, Refactorings und technische Konzeptionen ein.
- Du stellst Performance, Sicherheit und Skalierbarkeit unserer Systeme sicher.
- Du arbeitest eng mit Frontend-Developer*innen zusammen und unterstützt bei technischen Fragestellungen.
- Du implementierst Tests, Monitoring und Logging, um Qualität und Stabilität langfristig zu sichern.
- Du beobachtest technologische Entwicklungen und gibst Impulse für zukunftsfähige Backend-Lösungen.

Was du mitbringst - dein Skillset
- Mehrjährige Erfahrung im Bereich Backend Development
- Sehr gute Kenntnisse in mindestens einer gängigen Backend-Technologie (z. B. Node.js, Java, Python, PHP oder vergleichbar).
- Erfahrung im Design und in der Umsetzung von APIs (REST, ggf. GraphQL).
- Verständnis für Datenbanken (SQL und/oder NoSQL) und Datenmodellierung.
- Erfahrung mit skalierbaren Architekturen, Services und verteilten Systemen.
- Erfahrung mit Cloud-Infrastrukturen (z. B. AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Kenntnisse in Themen wie Security, Authentifizierung, Autorisierung und Datenschutz.
- Strukturierte, eigenverantwortliche Arbeitsweise und ein hoher Qualitätsanspruch.
- Freude an Zusammenarbeit in interdisziplinären Teams.
- Erfahrung im Learning-&-Development-, E-Learning- oder Plattform-Umfeld.
- Kenntnisse in Container-Technologien (Docker, ggf. Kubernetes).
- Erfahrung mit CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code oder automatisierten Deployments.
- Erfahrung mit Performance-Tuning und Monitoring.

I don't think I meet all the requirements. Can I still apply?
Even if you don't meet all the requirements, you can make up for missing knowledge with additional skills. What do I have to consider if I am not from Germany?
Please make sure to provide all necessary documents within your Workwise profile. It should include an EU work-permit (if you have no EU citizenship) and a CV at least. Depending on the position you are applying to, you could also be asked for a certificate of enrollment, a transcript of records or a language certificate. We would also recommend to inform yourself thoroughly in advance about visa regulations. Therefore you can use the official visa navigator from the Federal Foreign Office.
